Every day we get 1440 minutes, to spend however we want. How many of those minutes are we contaminating with beating ourselves up?
If you have five negative thoughts throughout the day, (and wouldn't it be nice if it were just five), you've contaminated five minutes of your daily gift of LIFE! Once those minutes are gone, they are gone...not coming back. Five minutes doesn't sound like much, but over the course of one year, that's 30 hours! What could you do with an extra 30 hours a year? I'm sure you could think of something.
I challenge you to start protecting your minutes, every one of them, and be really picky about what words and phrases you choose to listen to. Notice your habits for phrases. We all have them. One common habit I hear with many clients I've coached over the years is predicting negative outcomes when we want to take action that stretches us. Notice if you catch yourself in any of these kinds of habits. Just take note. And if you'd like, come back here and share with us what you noticed. Imagine the possibilities if everyone shared these habits of self-sabotage. Perhaps we'd simply learn to bring some humor to them next time we catch ourselves in the act...and then move forward to enjoy the moment.
